Oral Surgery
Addressing Complex Dental Issues
Oral surgery includes the diagnosis and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the face, mouth, teeth, and jaw.
While we prioritize minimally invasive treatments for dental issues and make efforts to reduce drilling wherever possible, there are instances where more advanced procedures, such as oral surgery, may be necessary to effectively address certain conditions.
These conditions may involve problems like impacted teeth, missing teeth, severe infections, bone loss in the jaw, receding gums and restricted jaw movement.
Oral surgery can help alleviate the pain associated with these problems, as well as improve jaw function and enhance the overall health of the mouth.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are titanium screws that mimic natural tooth roots. When paired with a crown or bridge, they provide a natural-looking and functional replacement for missing teeth.
Tooth Extractions
While preserving a natural tooth is ideal, there are situations where extraction is necessary. These can include severe damage from decay, gum disease or trauma. In such cases, our dentist may recommend removing the tooth to prevent further complications.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
For most people, wisdom teeth are the last to erupt, often emerging in their late teens or early twenties. Wisdom teeth can cause dental problems if there isn't enough room for them in the jaw, or if they erupt at the wrong angle. They can also cause additional difficulty cleaning this already hard-to-reach area. Your dentist will monitor the development of your wisdom teeth and recommend removal if necessary.
Bone Grafts & Sinus Lifts
Bone grafts involve taking bone from one area of the body and transplanting it in the jaw bone. Sinus lifts add bone to the upper jaw, near the molars and premolars, to increase bone height.
Bone grafts and sinus lifts can help strengthen your jaw and increase the chances of a successful dental implant procedure.
Gum Grafts
During a gum graft, the dentist takes tissue from another part of the mouth and transplants it on the gum line. Gum grafts are a common solution for patients experiencing gum recession. They can improve the appearance of the smile and reduce sensitivity due to exposed tooth roots.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy procedure removes the frenum, a small piece of tissue that can restrict movement in the mouth. This procedure is recommended for patients who may have difficulty with speech, eating or oral hygiene due to a tight and restrictive frenum.
