Restorative Dental Services
Regain Confidence & Functionality
Do you feel pain when chewing, or do your teeth have an extreme sensitivity to extreme temperatures? Do you feel self-conscious because some of your teeth are cracked, or perhaps even missing?
Restorative dental care focuses on repairing and restoring the natural function, strength and appearance of teeth.
By using restorative treatments, we aim to not only address immediate oral health issues, but also promote overall wellbeing. This means alleviating pain and discomfort from damaged teeth, allowing for comfortable eating and drinking, and fixing cracked or missing teeth, improving chewing and speaking ability.
Don't let dental problems hold you back from feeling confident and living life to the fullest.
Periodontal (Gum) Therapy
Gum disease affects the tissues supporting the teeth and can lead to serious oral health issues if left untreated.
If you are diagnosed with gum disease, treatment options will be tailored to your specific needs, and may include deep cleanings, medications or surgical procedures.
Dental Fillings
At Dentistry On Sheppard, we use composite (tooth-coloured) fillings to repair a cavity or tooth damage, like a crack. These fillings can withstand the pressure from the constant stress of chewing, and can be used on front and back teeth. If you have old amalgam fillings that you'd like to have replaced with more aesthetically pleasing composite ones, we can help with that, too.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are versatile restorations that can be used for various purposes, such as attaching bridges, covering dental implants or preventing further damage to a cracked tooth. Additionally, crowns can restore the appearance of discoloured or stained teeth.
Dental Bridges
Bridges are natural-looking tooth replacements that are bonded to existing teeth or dental implants. They can replace a section of missing teeth or just a single tooth, and help restore the natural contour of your smile.
Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and onlays are tooth-coloured ceramic or composite fillings used to repair cavities when the damage is too extensive for a standard dental filling. They are custom-made in a dental laboratory and are permanently cemented to the tooth as a single piece.
Full & Partial Dentures
Dentures are artificial teeth used to replace one missing tooth or several in a row (partial dentures), or a whole jaw of missing teeth (full dentures). They allow patients with missing teeth to maintain their facial structure, and talk and eat properly.
Root Canals
A root canal is a dental treatment for infections in the tooth pulp. This procedure is performed to halt the spread of infection and prevent the need for an extraction.
During root canal treatment, your dentist removes the inflamed pulp. They then clean and disinfect the inside of your tooth and place a filling on your tooth to seal the space.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull. The disorder of this joint can cause a host of issues with your jaw and the muscles in your face, including symptoms like difficulty chewing, jaw stiffness and even headaches.
Treatment options can include medications to help with pain, mouth guards to help place your jaw into a more favourable position or surgery to reshape the bone.
